Schizophrenia is a uniquely alienating disorder.The Japanese have abandoned the label altogether, preferring the term ‘integration disorder’. This highlights one of the major diagnostic issues, that there is no absolute agreement on what it is. The western diagnostic manuals are reconsidering the current criteria at present.
